Plastic surgeon says no ointments or creams on healing opening of the skin?

anybody know why you wouldn't want to put ointment or even mederma on a healing opening of the skin? sore is on the face. the sutures were removed yesterday. please reply if you have experience with this.

is it better to omit ointments, vitamin E or merderma?Plastic surgeon says no ointments or creams on healing opening of the skin?
naturally is the best way for it to heal.

but ointments to prevent from a risk of infection

your choice.Plastic surgeon says no ointments or creams on healing opening of the skin?
If it were me/ I would use pure vitamin E. After it is completely healed/ then I would go to Walgreen's and/or WalMart and pick up some udder cream. That should be the way way to go. (I have had approximately 12 surgeries and that is what I did.

because the wound has to dry out to form a scab to keep infection from forming inside.. mattering what you had done.. since you say plastic surgeon i assume you had something more than a line cut .. so more than likely a pocket was made and if it doesnt drain properly since healing wounds tend to ooze and drain.. it could get infected. covering it with ointments, creams or anything to block the air traps moisture .. blocking the drainage.. trapping bacteria and for the lack of a better work ';ick'; in the wound..

follow directions.. they are given for your health
Do what the sugeon says. When the wound is no longer open you can apply vit. E. If you infect the area, all his work will be ruined and then you will really have a scar.
